Be Owt Day: Stewart Edition

Negril is a town in western Jamaica. It’s known for its miles of sandy beaches on shallow bays with calm, turquoise waters. Seven Mile Beach, particularly the portion overlooking Long Bay, is lined with bars, restaurants and resorts, many of them international and all-inclusive. Long Bay opens onto a lagoon protected by coral reefs and is a snorkeling and scuba-diving destination

Explore

Negril is a gem of Jamaica's west coast, rich with natural beauty and unique experiences. Lined with beach bars, vendors, and reggae rhythms, it's where Negril's lively, easygoing spirit truly shines.

For a more dramatic take on the coastline, head to the Negril Cliffs on the West End. Here, you'll find stunning views, ideal snorkeling spots, and the thrill of cliff jumping for the adventurous.

If you're in the mood to escape the beach crowd and dive into Jamaica's lush interior, Mayfield Falls is a great option. A scenic drive from Negril brings you to these hidden waterfalls and natural pools, ideal for hiking, wading, and taking a break from the heat under cascading water. This historic structure offers peaceful views of the sea and a sense of timeless Caribbean tranquility.

Eat & Drink

The Royalton Negril Resort is an all-inclusive resort that offers multiple restaurants and an open bar. But Negril is also a haven for food lovers, offering everything from street-side eats to fine dining with ocean views. A must-visit for a special evening is Ivan’s Bar & Restaurant, located at Catcha Falling Star. Perched on the cliffs, Ivan’s serves up Caribbean-fusion cuisine with one of the most romantic settings on the island—ideal for sunset dinners.

For an authentic Jamaican dining experience with a modern twist, try Pushcart Restaurant & Rum Bar at Rockhouse Hotel. The atmosphere is upbeat and colorful, and the menu is packed with local favorites like jerk chicken, curried goat, and fried plantains.

And if you're looking to dine with your toes in the sand, Bourbon Beach on Seven Mile offers casual beachfront dining, reggae shows, and an energetic crowd, making it perfect for dinner that turns into dancing.

Unwind

Negril isn’t just for adventure and nightlife—it’s also a perfect place to slow down and reconnect with yourself. One of the most luxurious ways to unwind is with a visit to the Spa at The Caves, where massages are offered in cliffside huts or sea caves, with only the sound of waves and birds around you. It’s a peaceful, rejuvenating escape.

For a more holistic vibe, Jackie’s on the Reef offers yoga classes, meditation sessions, and a variety of wellness treatments in a serene oceanfront setting. It’s ideal for travelers who want to reset and reconnect with nature.

If you're looking for a quiet, cozy place to stay and relax, Firefly Beach Cottages provides a charming alternative to the bigger resorts. You can step outside your cottage and walk right onto a quieter section of Seven Mile Beach, perfect for reading a book, sipping a cocktail, or just taking a nap in the sun.
