What to expect: Group arrives in Montego Bay, and are greeted at the airport by Steve Robertson and our Jamaican guide, Ricardo Miller. After brief introductions over a light meal at the Groovy Grouper, we’ll load our gear onto vans, then depart for the coastal town of Negril, located on one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island. We may bird a bit en route, but we plan to arrive in Negril in time to enjoy the sunset, have dinner, and go over the bird list for the first time.

What to expect: the Royal Palms Reserve, a small, somewhat dilapidated but still birdy, wetland that allows for good viewing of the rare West Indian Whistling Duck, a regional endemic. Other species found here include the Northern
Jacana, Least Grebe, Jamaican Mango, and the Vervain Hummingbird. After spending the morning birding the wetlands, we’ll leave the reserve and bird our way back to negril.
